The parade
At 11.00am, local musicians, the Bagg’s Tree Buskers, lead the parade from Townsend, along the High Street and Wantage Road into the recreation ground. Floats decorated by village organisations are towed by vintage tractors and are followed by dancers, classic vehicles, steam engines, and other participants of that year’s Feast.
Watching the parade:
The parade is very popular so arrive in plenty of time to find your spot along the High Street. For safety reasons, please remain on the pavement and ensure children are supervised and dogs are under control.
If you haven’t already purchased a programme and wish to avoid long queues at the gate, look out for our volunteers who will have a limited number of programmes available for sale (cash only).
Taking part in the parade:
If you think you could provide an interesting addition to the parade, please get in touch.
Assembly point: The Croft (OX11 0ED) for classic cars; Townsend (OX11 0DX) for all other attractions.
Road closure:
Roads through the village: Burr Street, High Street and Wantage Road will be closed temporarily to allow the parade to pass from Townsend to the Recreation Ground. Once the parade has completely passed through, the roads will be reopened. Marshals will be positioned along the route to assist. We thank all drivers for their patience.
