Visiting Harwell Feast

Harwell Feast is traditionally held on the Spring Bank Holiday Monday. This year, the date is Monday 25 May. The Feast starts at 11.00am and usually finishes around 4.30pm

At 11.00am a parade of floats, musicians, classic vehicles, and other attractions makes its way through the village to the recreation ground where the Feast takes place.

A parade float designed as a World War II-themed plane with children dressed as soldiers riding on it, being pulled by a vintage red tractor.
A parade of vintage cars driving down a suburban street decorated with colorful pennant banners, with spectators watching from the side of the road.

Watching the parade is free, but to enter the recreation ground on Feast Day you will need to purchase a programme: one per adult. There is no charge for children or young people of 17 years and under who are in full time education.

Programmes are available at the on foot pedestrian entrance (Westfield) or at the pedestrian entrance from the field car park. However, to avoid having to queue we encourage you to purchase a programme in advance. They will be available at a reduced rate from local establishments, usually two weeks before the Feast.

A limited number of programmes will also be available to buy (cash only) from some of our Feast volunteers along the parade route.

How to drive to Harwell Feast

Free parking is available in the field adjacent to the recreation ground, including a number of designated Blue Badge parking spaces close to the car park pedestrian entrance.

As the road through the village will be closed temporarily for the parade we advise approaching Harwell via the link road.

The car park entrance is accessed from the Reading Road (A417). ///what3words.

For safety reasons and to ease congestion, we will be operating a turn left only policy for entering the car park. Use the Rowstock roundabout, only a short distance from the car park entrance, if necessary.

Our parking marshals are volunteers and are there to ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians in the parking area.

At busy times queues will form, so for your own safety and those around you, please follow their directions respectfully. Your patience and co-operation is appreciated.
